BeatSpot – Upload and share music
by Mike on May.01, 2009, under Projects, Web Development
There are a lot of music related websites out there, and some are a lot better than others. From Spotify - a new free web service that allows you to stream all the latest popular music to your computer – to last.fm – where you can keep tabs on all the tracks you’ve played and chat in a community with users of similar taste.
However, there are few, if any, music sites available that are similar to YouTube in a way that offer simple upload capabilities to users and then stream that music to the websites users. This is why I created BeatSpot.
BeatSpot is designed to allow music artists to share their tracks online for free. There are no adverts (yet, I may add some if bandwidth costs grow) and no subscription costs. Users are able to come onto the website and access all of the tracks for free without a sign up. Additional functionality is available to users who wish to sign up, such as playlist capabilities, a pop-out music player (which I’m very proud of), private messaging and subscriptions to users updates.
I wll be adding RSS feeds shortly as well as promoting it with some AdWords, so stay tuned.
